Vitiligo is a “white spot disease”: types, causes, treatment.

Vitiligo or piebald skin, “a disease of old spots” – a violation of pigmentation in human skin. In the literature this disease is denoted by the terms lampetia or PES.

The disease is characterized by the disappearance of the pigment melanin in certain areas of the human skin. This disease may occur as in men and women. Unfortunately, the mechanism of development has not been explored yet, and as a result the treatment of the disease difficult. Failed to examine the nature of the disease – there is no standard method of treatment. We know one thing that it is not communicable by contact from person to person.

Scientists have identified two types of vitiligo.

Type A. White spots appear on the face, back of hands, armpits and in the genital area. A distinctive feature of this type is the loss of pigmentation in the area of the nostrils, mouth, eyes, nipples, navel and anus. The size of the spots can reach up to 5 cm And the spots have clear boundaries in red.

Type B. This disease most often affects babies and children. Most often the disease manifests itself in one place. For example, can be affected one limb. The disease often is progressive in nature. Only an experienced dermatologist can make an accurate diagnosis.

The causes of vitiligo.

There are several factors that can cause the development of vitiligo:

– endocrine diseases;

– disorders of the thyroid, pituitary disease, adrenal and gonads;

– stress and psychological trauma;

– hereditary predisposition;

– worm infestation or infectious diseases;

– violation of metabolism, a deficiency of certain vitamins and minerals.

Official and folk medicine offers different methods of treatment. Everything is quite difficult. Systemic therapy vitiligo includes:

1. Systemic corticosteroids;

2. Anti-malarial drugs;

3. Immunomodulators;

4. Drugs that affect gastrointestinal tract;

5. Digestive enzymes;
